Stepmother (played by Mrs. Robinson) is on the phone, talking dirty to “Brad”. Her silent stepson Alex (Chad Alva) enters the living room and she halts the call when she spots him. “Alex, I know it looks really bad”, she says. “Please don’t say anything to your dad. It’s not who you think – it really isn’t. I mean, it’s exactly who you think -it’s exactly what it looks like”.
She continues: “I don’t know what to say. Being married isn’t what it used to be. I never thought it would be this complicated. To tell you the truth, I never wanted to be a stay at home mom -your dad insisted.
“This can be our little secret. How does that sound? Look, I know you and I haven’t been close since I married your dad a couple years ago, but I’ve always looked at you like you’re my son. You believe that, don’t you? Please don’t make me beg -I’ll do anything”. She kneels down before Alex. “Please, I’ll do your chores, I’ll clean your room, anything, I promise you won’t regret it. Can I make you a sandwich, how about something to drink? How about cleaning your room?”, she reiterates. The camera shakes side to side to indicate Alex’s No. “Your wish is my desire, master. Come on”, she takes Alex’s hand and leads him to her bedroom.
“You know I feel like Cinderella. I never meant to hurt you, right? You know Miss Jones? Well, we’ve gotten very close over the last few months, Carolyn & me”. Stepmother grabs some clothing on the dresser and begins folding it, setting it on the bed. “She hates to fold laundry, so she brings hers over a couple of times a week. I know it sounds silly, but it makes me feel really good to be able to do that. She might be my only friend in the world, too. I’ve gotten myself into a big mess, haven’t I?.
